Weighing at 17.5 pounds (lbs), the Eccotemp L10 tankless water heater can be transported easily to campsites, lonely cabins, and to almost any off-the-grid locations for installation. Its compact size also means that it can be fitted conveniently at almost any outdoor locations.
The Eccotemp L10 has been deployed anywhere be it a campsite, beach, potting sheds, mobile homes and even horse washing stalls as a temporary set up to provide hot water for your usage.
However, when deciding a place for installing the L10, do take note that it requires a 2" clearance from a wall, 1' side to side from anything flammable, 3' from a window as well from an overhang, and 18" from the ground.

For operation, the Eccotemp L10 can be connected to a standard garden hose nozzle and propane tank (tank not included).
To get hot water, simply turn on the tap and you will get a constant flow within seconds. Multiple spray settings are available for you to select a preferred water pressure.
The Eccotemp L10 runs on liquid propane; a standard 20 lbs tank of liquid propane can last for approximately 12 hours of continuous usage. It has a heating power of 74,500 BTU as seen from its higher maximum temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit as compared to Eccotemp L5.
Its battery-operated ignition also makes the L10 a handy backup water source when electricity is not available, making it also ideal for use during emergency. The heater is powered by 2 D-cell batteries (not included).
Besides that, like all tankless water heaters, the L10 only produces hot water when you turn on the shower, so propane is only used when you need to generate hot water. This saves you fuel and money!
The water heater is programmed to shut off automatically after 20 minutes. This safety feature will prevent wastage of fuel during periods of non-usage making this Eccotemp tankless water heater a worthwhile model worth considering.

Installation and assembly
Clear instruction manual, ease of installation (about 15 minutes) and operation were some of the mentioned positives. The provided accessories, fittings etc. were readily available in most hardware stores if additional ones are required for modification to suit your installation.
Functionality
Space-saving design, consistent hot water production at low flow, and propane-saving ability were mentioned. However, there were complaints of defective, missing parts and accessories like hose adaptors, solenoids, faulty temperature adjustment knobs and the general poor quality in the manufactured product.
The inability to regulate the temperature of the heated water in a consistent manner were also mentioned by customers. There are also cases where the water heater shutting off randomly during showers.
Child protection function
The safety shut-off that will be activated when the unit runs longer than 20 minutes or when the unit is tilted more than 45 degrees in either direction reduces the chances of mis-handling by young children.
Not fully outdoor use
Like the Eccotemp L5, there were similar cases of the battery-powered ignition pilot flame can be extinguished by wind. Hence, it might be more suitable for indoor usage. Nevertheless, the unit should not be a permanent set-up, either outdoors or indoors, to adhere to the warranty terms and conditions offered by Eccotemp.
Customer service
The reviews about the customer and technical support are actually mixed, with both praises and complaints about their rendered services. Some complaints include the low level and inflexibility of the technical support in rendering troubleshooting advice. Nevertheless, there were also praises in their prompt service in the handling of the issues with their units.

The Eccotemp L10 portable tankless water heater is covered by a one-year limited warranty on parts while the unit remains at its original point of installation. This warranty takes effect on the date of installation, or 30 days after the date of purchase, whichever occurs first, for the heat exchanger (1 year), all other parts (1 year) and for the free accessories (shower head, hose, regulator, etc) (30 days).
Eccotemp will also provide 1 round of parts per incident (deemed by Eccotemp Support Team) under the warranty prior to requesting the shipment of any item to our warehouse for repair/inspection.
