The Eccotemp L10 is the big brother of a similar product; Eccotemp L5 that is the smaller but similar version of this product line by Eccotemp. This portable tankless water heater will also allow you the luxury of having hot water almost anywhere… but in a higher capacity!

So I have summarised the pros and cons of Eccotemp L10 as one of my green products review. and also provide a mode of price comparison between sites.

Easy to Operate

For operation, the Eccotemp L10 can be connected to a standard garden hose nozzle and propane tank (tank not included). To get hot water, simply turn on the tap and you will get a constant flow within seconds. Multiple spray settings are available for you to select a preferred water pressure.

The ideal operating range of water pressure is 25 PSI to 80 PSI. The range of temperature settings available for the Eccotemp L10, range from 80 to 165 degrees Fahrenheit, with hot water production up to 2.65 gallons per minute.

Off-the-Grid Operation

Eccotemp L10 runs on liquid propane; a standard 20 lbs tank of liquid propane can last for approximately 12 hours of continuous usage. It has a heating power of 74,500 BTU as seen from its higher maximum temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit as compared to Eccotemp L5.

The battery-operated ignition makes the Eccotemp L10 a handy backup water source when electricity is not available, making it also ideal for use during emergency. The heater is powered by 2 D-cell batteries (not included).

Eccotemp L10 is cost-effective and saves energy

Besides that, like all tankless water heaters, Eccotemp L10 only produces hot water when you turn on the shower, so propane is only used when you need to generate hot water. This saves you fuel and money!

The water heater is programmed to shut off automatically after 20 minutes. This safety feature will prevent wastage of fuel during periods of non-usage making the Eccotemp L10 a worthwhile model worth considering.

The Pros

Most of the postive comments for the Eccotemp L10 range from its reasonable price, clear instruction manual, easy installation and the good after sales service. Other positives include its child-safety feature; hot water only when you turn on the heater and consistent hot water production.

The Cons

However there are also some negatives that I have to discuss with regards to the Eccotemp L10. This unit can only produce hot water according to the pre-set temperatures; so it is perfect if you only require one temperature for your activities. Another issue is the problem with low water pressure, however if the unit has been set properly and the removal of the low-flow restrictions from the shower-head have been some of the solutions to this problem.

When changing to a new propane tank, you will need to run the water heater for a minute or so to purge the air from the propane line. During this period, you will not be able to get any hot water, until the air is all purged out.
